Chinese wind giant powers up first turbine in the Americas
Mingyang is one of several wind turbine manufacturers from China that is making moves in Brazil market
Mingyang has powered up its first wind turbine in the Americas as the Chinese manufacturer continues its push into global markets.
Mingyang announced on LinkedIn today that it has successfully connected an onshore wind turbine in Brazil.
The manufacturer also celebrated that the installation had been carried out with “zero accidents” across over 26,000 working hours poured into the project.
As its first installed wind turbine in Brazil, Mingyang said the project “presented unique challenges for the local team” and “each step, from logistics to commissioning, required rapid learning and close coordination.”
Tower sections and the nacelle travelled 1,430 km from port to site due to their oversized dimensions, said Mingyang. “Other components followed a 573km route.”
Although Mingyang did not specify details of the project in its post, it appears this is the order the company announced last year for one of its MySE 6.25-172 machines.
That order was from Brazilian utility Companhia Paranaense de Energia, better known as Copel. The turbine was expected to be shipped from China, installed in early 2025 and commissioned in the second quarter.
The turbine was set to be added to an existing Copel wind farm in northeastern Brazil.
