Robot dogs have been deployed to help run what is claimed to be the world’s first unmanned wind farm, in a possible sign of things to come for the industry.

The dogs have been deployed at the Ningxia Tongli Third Wind Farm in China, which was developed by China Three Gorges and supplied by turbine-making giant Goldwind.

The robot dogs have been supplied by Chinese company DEEP Robotics.

“Robot dogs can complete 353 daily inspection tasks,” Goldwind tells Recharge. “A single drone, powered by algorithms, can cover 3,200 inspection checkpoints, with a margin of mistake under 5%.”
