GE Vernova plans more job cuts in Europe, warn unions
Claims that 600 posts to go follow moves last year to shrink offshore wind operations
Wind and power technology giant GE Vernova is planning 600 job cuts in Europe, according to French unions and media reports.
GE Vernova, which employs 25,000 in Europe, operates wind manufacturing facilities in EU nations including Germany, Spain and France, as well as other nations across the continent linked to its wider gas and electrification business.
The reports citing union representatives do not specify where or in which job functions the cuts are due to be made. They are understood to relate to a group-wide plan to save $250m in general and administrative functions from 2026 onwards
A GE Vernova spokesperson said: "We continuously review our operations to ensure we are best positioned for growth and serving our customers. When we do develop plans for restructuring, we will communicate with employees and their representatives first.
“At all times, we comply with our legal obligations, including formal consultation with employee representatives, before such plans are finalised and/or implemented."
