China’s Envision will supply turbines for ACEN’s 344.5MW Quezon North onshore wind project in the Philippines, which will be the country’s largest, the second deal in Asia between the two firms.

The OEM did not specify a model, but said the turbines will be erected on 150-metre (492-feet) tall towers. Envision’s catalogue includes 2MW, 3MW, 4MW, 5MW, and 6MW onshore machines. It did not provide a delivery timetable.

The agreement with ACEN, the renewable energy platform of local conglomerate Ayala Group, will include lifecycle services.

“Envision's cutting-edge high-tower turbine technology and intelligent control systems are specifically engineered to optimise performance under local wind conditions, significantly enhancing wind energy capture and boosting generation efficiency,” said Kane Xu, president of international product lines at Envision.

“This initiative will greatly increase the Philippines' renewable energy capacity and support the country's shift toward a green economy,” he added.

ACEN has five operating wind farms in the Philippines ranging from 52MW to 160MW. It also has projects in development and operation in India, Laos, and the US.

In Laos, Envision turbines will power ACEN's 600MW Monsoon Wind that is set to export electricity to Vietnam, making it Southeast Asia's first cross-border wind project.
