Chinese turbine-maker wins breakthrough orders in Western Europe
China's Sany secures small orders for onshore wind turbines in Germany in Spain that nevertheless represent big breakthrough for manufacturer in Western Europe
Chinese wind turbine manufacturer Sany has won its first orders in Western Europe, for small projects in Germany and Spain.
While the OEM is currently promoting its 7.8MW and 8MW models, adapted for European standards, at the Husum Wind exposition in northern Germany, it has scored the orders for its more established 5MW and 6MW machines.
If the project wins support in a tender, it could be installed as early as next year.
“It is signed for two turbines; theoretically, it could be extended for another three turbines,” Soares said at an interview during the Husum Wind exposition.
In Spain, the manufacturer earlier this year won an order for a single turbine project, and will supply one of its SI-172-625 models with a 6.25MW power rating.
The orders come after the OEM was granted a type certification for both models for international and German standards, Soares said.
