China's Envision Energy has broken into a new market with an order to supply a mix of 6.5MW and 8MW wind turbines two Alternergy wind farms in the Philippines

The contract requires delivery of turbine powering 162MW for deployment on the onshore Alabat and Tanay wind farm projects, according to a joint statement by the two companies.

Envision's first ever contract to supply turbines into the Philippines encompasses design, engineering, manufacturing, as well as delivery of the machines, as well as comprehensive 10-year service and maintenance commitment, the pair stated.

Alternergy is a leading renewables developer in the Philippines, with assets in wind, run-of-river hydro, solar and battery storage.

The Tanay wind project is Alternergy’s third wind project in Rizal province, while Alabat is the first wind project hosted in Quezon province.

Both projects are expected to be ready for operation by the end of 2025, as part of Alternergy’s accelerated project pipeline, the partners stated.

John Lee, Envision's general manager for Asia & Africa markets, described Alternergy as the wind pioneer in the Philippines.

He added: "These are new groundbreaking projects for us in the Philippine market. We are deploying innovative technologies to the WTGs for the Alabat and Tanay wind projects that are specifically selected and designed to suit the wind climatic conditions in these areas."

Knud Hedeager, president of the Alternergy subsidiary holding the company's wind portfolio commented: “Envision Energy was selected after a very thorough and rigorous tender process and due diligence. Our partnership with Envision, a leader in wind technology, will bring cutting-edge innovation to ensure optimal energy generation of Alternergy’s next wind projects.”

Once deployed, the Envision machines will be the biggest wind turbines in operation in the Philippines, according to Gerry Magbanua, president of Alternergy Holdings.

Alternergy's targets include developing up to 474MW of additional wind, solar, and run of river hydro projects over the next three years. The company staged a first an initial pubilic offering on the Philippine Stock Exchange in March 2023.

The joint statement highlighted Envision Energy's growing network of R&D and engineering centres in China, the US, UK, France, Germany and Denmark.
