Enercon inks near-billion dollar deal as 'German wind market picked up speed'
German premium OEM enters into partnership agreement with developer Enercity Erneuerbare over 100 onshore wind turbines
German premium wind manufacturer Enercon has signed a partnership agreement with developer and operator Enercity Erneuerbare for the supply, installation and service of about 100 onshore wind turbines of different types.
The contract is valid for two years, with the possibility of an extension, and covers a project volume of up to €800m ($913m).
“The wind energy market in Germany has picked up speed,” Enercon central and northern Europe head Benjamin Seifert said.
“The transfer of building permits to project implementation is increasing. The prerequisite for successful projects will be an early and agile cooperation between the project participants.”
More than 30 turbines from the contract will already be called up this year, Enercon said.
“The drafting of the contract in recent months and also the first projects in implementation show that we have found a very constructive level between the two companies,” Seifert said.
The deal was preceded by a tender placed by Enercity Erneuerbare, which stressed the close cooperation of the developer and the OEM that are both based in the northern German state of Lower Saxony.
“Our partnership is a positive signal for the German wind industry and the regional economy,” Enercity CEO Aurélie Alemany said.
“After all, wind energy creates added value – especially at our company, production and wind sites.”
