Nordex returned to the black and saw profitability rise sharply in the first quarter of 2025 as orders grew.

The German wind turbine OEM posted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) 53% higher year-on-year at €79.6m ($90.3m).

The group’s consolidated net profit came in at €8m, turning around a €13m loss in Q1 of 2024.

Orders in the quarter were up slightly at 2.18GW in capacity terms but 7% ahead in value at €1.9bn. “These orders were received from 10 different countries and for various turbine variants,” said Nordex.

The group had an order book of €13.5bn by the end of March.

Sales dipped almost 9% to €1.43bn, however, which the company said was “mainly driven by lower installation levels and production timing aspects”.

Nordex CEO José Luis Blanco said: “Overall, the first quarter met our expectations with a strong order intake and a further increase in our profitability levels.

“We were able to close the first quarter with a positive free cash flow, reflecting our ongoing strong operational performance. I remain confident of achieving our targets for this year and in the medium term."
